Appeal for witnesses after child assaulted - Newcastle

Officers investigating a report of an assault on a child are today appealing for witnesses. 

On 25 July at around 3.45pm, a woman was travelling with two children on a train between Newcastle and Alnmouth.

She was witnessed to have assaulted one of the children while shouting at him. 

A 34-year-old woman was arrested in connection to the incident and has been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has any information to come forward to assist their investigation.
