Appeal after man arrested for assault on train from Manchester

British Transport Police are today appealing for further information after a man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting another man on a train from Manchester.
 
The incident happened at 10pm on Saturday 24 August as the service traveled between Manchester Piccadilly and Cleethorpes stations.
 
A man, who was travelling with a group of men to Scunthorpe, is reported to have begun arguing with another passenger on the train.
 
The man then approached the victim who was sat down and punched him twice in the back of the head. The victim suffered no visible injuries.
 
A 30-year-old man from North Lincolnshire was arrested on suspicion of assault. He has since been released while officers carry out further enquiries. 
 
Investigators would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident. They believe there may be three independent people who may have seen the incident.
