Detectives investigating a sexual assault on board a train travelling between Meadowhall and Doncaster are today appealing for witnesses.

The incident happened between 5.30pm and 6pm on 18 August. A woman was travelling with two children when a man touched her inappropriately.

Officers met the train and arrested a 37-year-old man from Dunswell on suspicious of sexual assault. He has been released under police investigation while enquiries continue.

It is understood that the train was particularly busy, therefore it is likely that a number of other passengers would have witnessed what happened. Officers are today appealing for those passengers to get in touch as soon as possible.

If you were on board and saw what happened, please contact BTP by sending a text to 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 359 of 18/08.
