Man violently attacked at Wickford station – Essex

Detectives investigating an serious assault at Wickford station, where a man viciously attacked another passenger, are today appealing for information. 

The assault happened at approximately 10.45pm on 6 July. The victim and his girlfriend were waiting on platform two when they became embroiled in a verbal altercation with another passenger. 

The unknown passenger then assaulted the victim by smashing his head into a glass panel and then stamping on his head. 

The victim sustained a deep laceration to his forehead, the victim also suffered a suspected stroke, temporarily paralysing the left hand side of his face. 

DC Nick Dipper from British Transport Police, said: “This was a particularly nasty and vicious assault and has resulted in the victim receiving long term injuries. 

“We are urgently investigating this incident and are keen to identify a white man who was 6 foot and who was wearing jeans and a dark blue top. He was travelling with a white female who had black hair, roughly 5ft 6ins tall and who was wearing black leggings and a dark blue top.

“If you witnessed what happened, or know someone matching this description, please get in touch as a matter of urgency.”
