Man attacked on train at Meadowhall station – Sheffield

BTP officers are appealing for more information following an assault on board a train at Meadowhall station in Sheffield.

The incident happened at 8.12pm on Saturday 9 March. The train was travelling on the Doncaster to Sheffield service.

A man is reported to have been verbally abusive to passengers. He then attacked a man. The victim and the suspect were known to each other.

A 31-year-old man from Sheffield has been arrested in connection with the offence. He has been released while officers conduct further enquiries.

Officers are keen to establish the full circumstances behind the incident and wish to speak to any witnesses. The assault is understood to have been witnessed by several members of the public.
