Officer found not guilty of assault – Essex

A serving British Transport Police (BTP) officer has been found not guilty of assault by beating following a hearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on 13 December 2018.
 
PC Mohinder Sandhu, who is based at BTP’s Central London Police Station, was charged with common assault in connection to an incident on 21 January last year in Colchester. The investigation was conducted by Essex Police. 
 
PC Sandhu was placed on restricted duties during the course of the investigation. 

The Force is now reviewing the current restrictions and whether there have been any potential breaches of the code of ethics or the standards of professional behaviour.
