Police officer given written warning – London

A serving British Transport Police officer has been handed a written warning, following a misconduct hearing held in York last week.

PC Mark Ashley, who is based in Central London, attended the two day misconduct hearing at Toft Green, York. PC Ashley was answering allegations that his conduct breached the standards of professional behaviour, in respect of Orders and Instructions.

The panel heard that a business interest application by PC Ashley to act as a private taxi driver were declined by the Force in June 2016. A subsequent appeal of this decision was also declined.

In spite of this notice, PC Ashley persisted with his business interest when it had been declined.

An independent panel found that PC Ashley’s actions amounted to gross misconduct, and he was handed with a written warning.
