A 17-year-old man from Hillingdon has pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm, following an incident at London Victoria Underground station.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on 17 December where he entered his plea.

The assault happened at approximately 2.30pm on 11 July on a northbound Victoria Line platform at Victoria station in London.

As the victim, a man in his seventies, attempted to leave the train, there was a verbal altercation involving the defendant.

The 17-year-old man then chased after the victim, before violently assaulting him by pushing him to the floor.

PC Maya Alayli from BTP, said: “The violence the defendant unleashed on his victim was appalling, and left him unconscious for a number of minutes. I am pleased that the man pleaded guilty to the charge, saving the victim a lot of unnecessary stress from having to attend court.

The man will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on 10 January for sentencing.

A 15-year-old girl who was also arrested in connection to this incident will have no further action taken against her.
