Man charged over Stratford station assaults - London

A man is due to appear in court today (31 October) charged in connection with two assaults at Stratford station, east London. 

Benoit Chaves, of Wakefield Street, East Ham, was arrested after two men were injured in the concourse at 6am yesterday. 

The 26-year-old has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and attempted robbery in respect of the first victim, and common assault in regards of the second. He also faces further charges of possession of an offensive weapon and affray.

He is due to appear before Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court later. 

Detective Inspector Tim Weekes said: “Although a man has now been charged in connection with these assaults, our enquiries into what happened continue. 

“I’d like to thank everyone who has already come forward with information and would ask anyone who witnessed the incident, and has not already made contact, to get in touch.”
