Officers are today appealing for any witnesses following an assault that took place on board a train at Newport railway station.

The incident took place on Saturday 18 September at 12.40am

The victim was on board a service heading from Cardiff Central to Hereford. as the train approached Newport the victim was punched in the mouth in what is believed to be an unprovoked assault.

Officers are aware a number of passengers were on board the train and would have seen what happened.
