Passengers assaulted on board train between Leeds and Sheffield

Officers investigating an assault on board a train between Leeds and Sheffield are today releasing a CCTV image in connection. 

Shortly after 6pm on Saturday 25 August, two women in their twenties boarded a train at Leeds station travelling towards Sheffield. During the journey, the women were walking between carriages when a man stood in their path. 

There was then a verbal altercation between the women and the man. However, he became aggressive, forcibly pushing and barging into the women several times. 

At Sheffield station, the women leave the train but are then followed by the man. He then punches one of the women in the chest whilst pushing the other. 

Officers believe the man shown in this CCTV image may have information which could help them investigate.
