A BTP officer was yesterday (27 July) dismissed without notice after a misconduct hearing found he had breached the standards of professional behaviour.

PC Connor Murphy, based in London, attended the two-day hearing at Toft Green in York.

It came as a result of his conviction at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 7 March this year, for driving whilst under the influence of alcohol. The incident took place while he was off duty in Kent on 8 November 2017.

Head of Professional Standards Det Supt Gill Murray said: “As police officers, we know the dangers of drink driving and the tragic effects this can have on families and communities.

“PC Murphy’s behaviour clearly fell well below that which we would expect from one of our officers and so we feel today’s outcome was justified.”
