Person struck by train - Washington, Tyne and Wear

Officers were called to Chester-le-Street, Washington at 7.43pm this evening after reports of a person being struck by a train.

 

Colleagues from the ambulance service also attended, however, a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

 

We are working to identify the person and inform their family. However this incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
