Man taken to hospital following assault - Hornchurch, London

Shortly before 7pm this evening (03/07) officers were called to Hornchurch London Underground station following a report of assault on board a train.  
Officers from BTP and the Metropolitan Police Service attended. It appears a man sustained injuries after he was kicked and punched multiple times. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. 
The victim was airlifted to hospital where he is receiving treatment. 
In connection with this incident, a 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and grievous bodily harm. He has been taken to custody as enquiries continue.
