We are appealing for information after a man indecently exposed himself to a woman on board a train travelling from Manchester Airport to Edinburgh.

Our officers want to hear from any witnesses to the incident, which occurred between 8.10pm and 10.30pm on Friday 22 June.

A 32-year-old man from the Carlisle area has been arrested and is currently helping us with our enquiries, but we are now appealing for anyone who was on the TransPennine Express service to come forward.

We are also anxious to speak to the victim – who, having reported the incident to the train manager then left the service - to get a full account of exactly what happened.

We understand this would have been a traumatic and upsetting experience for her, but if this was you, we would urge you to please get in touch as soon as possible.

This was a serious incident and it is imperative that we speak to anyone who was on the train. You may not realise it, but it’s possible you may have seen or heard something which could prove vital to our investigation.

If you were on the 8.10pm Manchester Airport to Edinburgh service on Friday 22 June, or have any information that could assist us with our enquiries, please call 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016 quoting log reference 763 of 22/06/2016. Information can also be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
