Incident at Southgate Underground Station - London

Officers remain at Southgate station following a minor explosion at 7.03pm this evening. 

Investigations are ongoing, but the incident is not being treated as suspicious or terror related.  Initial enquiries indicate the explosion was caused by a drill battery short circuiting. 
The station remains closed and passengers are asked to check with Transport for London for the latest travel information.

We are currently dealing with an incident at Southgate tube station with colleagues from the Metropolitan Police, following reports of a suspicous package at the station. 

We were called to the station at 7.03pm and officers are at the scene.
