Attempted cable theft – Wednesbury

Do you recognise these men? 

Officers from BTP would like to speak to them in relation to an attempted cable theft  that took place in Wednesbury, West Midlands. In the early hours of Friday 23 March, two men were seen on the Midland Metro tram tracks at Bilport Lane lifting manhole covers in an attempt to steal signalling cable.  

No cable was taken during the incident. 

Officers believe the men in these CCTV images may have information which could help the investigation. 

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Daniel Hart said, “This incident comes after a number of similar incidents in the area. Theft of cables ultimately causes delays and disruption for the travelling public and I would like to urge any anyone with any information to come forward. You may be holding information that is key to our on-going investigations.”
