Officers are appealing for information following a series of robberies and attempted robberies on board a train service travelling between Herne Hill and Bromley South.

The four separate incidents happened on 12 March between the hours of 3.19pm and 4.10pm.

A group of four males targeted a schoolboy, who had boarded the service at Herne Hill. The group sat around the victim and proceeded to threaten him with violence. Fearing the attack, the victim handed over his mobile phone unlocking it for them when this was demanded. The phone was stolen and the victim left the train at Penge East.

The group remained on the service and moved into a carriage that was relatively empty. They pinned a second schoolboy in the corner and punched him in his jaw and ribs, causing reddening and bruising, before stealing his mobile phone again demanding he unlock the device.

The group left the service at Petts Wood station. The train continued to Orpington where it reversed and made its way back towards to London.

The same group re boarded the train at Petts Wood and again approached a small group of schoolboys and demanded two of the group hand over their mobile phone. The victim’s told them they did not have a phone, the group were deterred when revenue staff boarded the service.

The group ran off the service at Bromley South and the left the station by barging through the gates. They ran off towards Ravensbourne Road in Bromley.

Officers are now releasing images of the people they wish to speak to in connection with the incident as they believe they may have information that could help with the investigation.
