A 55-year-old man has been jailed for 18 months for possession of a knife, after he was caught threatening staff and passengers at West Ealing station.

Anthony Vassell, of Marmadon Road in Plumstead, was arrested after officers caught him shouting and threatening people at the station on 21 February.

He was charged with breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order and possession of a knife – which he pleaded guilty to at Blackfriars Crown Court on 23 March.

He was sentenced to 12 months for the possession of the knife and six months for the breach of the CBO, to run consecutively.

PC Amy Morton said: “Officers were called to West Ealing station by station staff on 21 February, after they were subject to a torrent of abuse and threats. It naturally left them very shaken by the incident.

“Carrying a knife on public transport or on the streets will absolutely not be tolerated, so I’m pleased Vassell now has 12 months behind bars.”
