Appeal for witnesses following affray on Northern Rail

Officers from British Transport Police are appealing for witnesses after an affray on board a Northern service from Manchester Piccadilly to Buxton.

The incident took place around 10:15pm on Friday 26 January.

A large group of girls aged 15-17 years old, were on board the service playing music.

At Disley railway station, an adult group of two men and three women boarded the train. A verbal confrontation occurred which then escalated to a physical altercation. Some members of each party sustained minor injuries.

The older group departed the train at Chapel-En-Le-Frith station, as the under 18s stayed on to Buxton.

Officers are now looking to speak with anyone who was on board the train and saw the altercation unfold.
