Do you recognise this man?

We’d like to speak to him after a member of staff was subjected to racial abuse inside Sandhills railway Station.

The incident took place at around 9am on 7 February when a man in company with another man entered Sandhills station and bought two tickets to Wigan Wallgate station.

The man disagreed with the ticket price and started to verbally abuse the member of staff accusing them of selling him an overpriced ticket.  The altercation was overhead by members of the public and the two men boarded a train service to Kirkdale.

Officers would like to speak to the man shown in the CCTV images as he may have information which could help the investigation.

If you recognise him, or have any other information which could help, please call BTP on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016, quoting reference number 113 of 07/02/2018.

Note to editors:

The second male has no involvement with the racial attack.
