Officers are appealing for information after a train guard was assaulted on a train at Ben Rhydding station.

On Monday 5 February, the guard on the 7.38pm train from Ilkley to Leeds challenged a man and a woman who did not have tickets. The man became verbally abusive and, as they left the train, he punched the guard – leaving him a serious cut to his eyebrow, which required stiches.

The pair left the train at Ben Rhydding station and continued to shout obscenities and bang on the train as they left.

Officers would like to speak to a number of witnesses who may have seen the incident, including a woman who offered to give first aid to the victim.

The offenders were both white teenagers.

If you have any information, or if you saw the incident taking place, please contact BTP by calling 0800 40 50 40 or texting 61016, with reference 531 of 5 February.
