Do you recognise this man?

We’d like to speak to him in connection with a number of theft offences on board trains in the Manchester and Sheffield areas.

One of the incidents happened on Monday 6 November when a 75-year-old woman had her suitcase stolen from the train. The offender removed it from the vestibule and got off the train. It was later found abandoned in the men’s toilets, having been searched.

Officers are linking the incident to a theft which occurred on Saturday 23 September on a train between Sheffield Midland station and Doncaster railway station, when a 20-year-old woman’s suitcase was stolen from the luggage rack.

It is also being linked to a theft on Sunday 1 October this year when a 29-year-old man’s suitcase was in the luggage rack and was stolen by a man who then handed the suitcase back to the victim when challenged. This was on a train between Manchester Airport and Sheffield Midland station.

Officers would like to speak to the man shown in the CCTV images as he may have information which could help the investigation.

If you recognise him, or have any other information, please call BTP on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016, quoting reference number 224 of 6 November 2017.
