We’d like to speak to the man in this photo, after someone took a piece of gum out of their mouth and threw it at a train guard – in an argument about a train fare.

At around 9.50am on 22 September, a guard was checking tickets onboard a train at Birchwood station.

He challenged a passenger who was hiding in the toilets and was in possession of a child’s ticket, rather than that of an adult.

When the man was asked to leave the service at Birchwood, he threw a newspaper at the guard, before taking chewing gum out of his mouth and throwing it at the guard. It landed on his glasses.

Behaviour like this will not be tolerated.

Do you know the man in the picture? We believe he may have information which could help our investigation.
