Detectives from British Transport Police are investigating the theft of signalling cable from the railway yesterday.

We were called to the line between North Queenferry and Inverkeithing shortly before 2pm.

Detectives continue to assess how much cable was taken and ask anyone with any information to get in touch.

It is believed the cable may have been damaged and taken earlier in the day. If you were in the area yesterday morning and witnesses any persons or vehicles acting suspiciously then please get in touch.

There was significant delays to train services whilst essential repairs were made to the signalling.

You can pass information by sending a text to 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 245 of 25/09/2017. Alternatively, ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
