We are appealing for information after an assault on a train between Glasgow Central and Paisley Gilmour Street stations.

A 53-year-old woman was travelling with a man on the 8pm service from Glasgow Central to Ayr on Sunday 30 July.

The man assaulted the woman, pulling her hair, hitting her and getting on top of her. Passengers on the train intervened and pulled the man off the victim as she screamed for him to get off of her.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault or has any information about the incident.

The man is described as being tall, in his late forties and wearing a red jacket.
