We are appealing for information after a man was assaulted at Mile End station in London.

At around 2.50pm yesterday, a fight broke out in one of the carriages of a westbound central line train and spilled out on to the platform.

One person fell to the ground and was assaulted by several other people who kicked him.

Another man intervened and was also assaulted.

He sustained minor injuries to his chest but did not require hospital treatment.

A 15-year-old boy from Stratford has been arrested on suspicion of affray and has been released under investigation.

Investigating officer, Det Chief Insp Paul Langley, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who was on board the train or in the Mile End station area, who may have seen or heard what happened yesterday.

“Fortunately, the man who intervened was not seriously injured. His actions in intervening in the disorder may have prevented someone else from being severely hurt.”
