We will have our whistles and flags at the ready this weekend at Leeds station to join the Pride party and we can’t wait!

We will be there at the station to welcome Pride goers to Yorkshire’s biggest celebration of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans life, and point them in the right direction to where all the action will be throughout the weekend.

Our officers and staff will also be promoting our #WeStandTogether campaign, aimed at eradicating hate crime from the rail network.

The campaign’s message is that everyone has the right to travel on the rail network without fear of intimidation, abuse or violence or the fear of being targeted because of who they are or who others perceive them to be.

Leeds Chief Inspector Lorna McEwan  said: “This year is the 11th anniversary of Pride in Leeds and it promises to be the biggest and best the city has seen and once again we’re proud to be a part of it.

“Yorkshire is well known for its warm welcome and we’ll be on hand at Leeds station and at the event itself to help everyone celebrate. If you spot us at the station or around the city please stop and say hello, grab yourself a selfie and pick up one of our hate crime information cards.

“If you do experience or witness any kind of hate crime we are here for you. Please report it to us by texting us on 61016, calling us on 0800 40 50 40 or by speaking to an officer and we will do something about it.

“No one should have to tolerate abuse or violence or be made to feel intimidated because of who they are – we simply won’t stand for it. It’s not a crime to be different but it is a crime to abuse or intimidate someone because of who they are.

“Be proud of uniqueness.

“You are our priority and we want you all to have an amazing time this weekend.”
