Officers have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to following an incident in which a man was punched in the face on board a Liverpool Street to Cambridge service.

The incident happened on 8 June at between the hours of 11.20pm and 11.36pm.

At approximately 11.20pm the victim, a man, boarded the service at Liverpool Street station.

He walked through the train to the front carriage and saw a man urinating over two seats.

The victim took out his mobile phone and began videoing the man.

The man then punched the victim in the right eye causing swelling.

The man left the carriage and it is unknown where he left the service.

Officers would like to speak to the man in the CCTV image as they believe he has vital information that could help in the investigation.

The officer in the case Det Sgt  Paula Jones said: “Everyone has the right to travel in a safe and comfortable environment. What the man was doing was highly inappropriate, but to then assault the victim in the way that he did was appalling.”
