Do you recognise this man?

We would like to speak to him in connection with an assault in East Croydon in which a man was stabbed in the leg.

The incident happened at around 1pm on Saturday 20 May, at East Croydon railway station.

Two men had an altercation at the station which became a physical dispute. During the fight, one of them sustained a stab wound to his leg.

Both parties are believed to be known to each other.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Investigating officer, PC Alfred Iswa, said: “I would like to speak to the man shown in the CCTV images as he may have information which could help the investigation.

“We are working to establish the circumstances of the incident, who was involved and why, and I would appeal to anyone who has any information about this man, or who saw what happened at

East Croydon that Saturday lunchtime, to contact me as soon as possible.

“As well as the obvious danger to the men who were involved in the fight, there were members the public nearby, using the station during the day. It is not acceptable that people armed with knives should be fighting and causing injury to each other anywhere, let alone in a public place like this. We are doing everything we can to identify the offender and bring him to justice.”

If you recognise the man in the CCTV images, please call 0800 40 50 40 or text information to 61016, quoting reference number 219 20/05/17.

Notes for editors: A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with this incident on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, affray and possession of an article for use in fraud. He has been released under investigation.
