A man, wanted in connection with three attempted knifepoint robberies in Redditch, has been arrested and has admitted his part in the offences.

Morgan Helsby was charged with trying to rob three men near the town’s railway station in March 2015 but failed to appear for trial earlier this year.

The 19-year-old of Arthur Street, Birmingham, came forward following an appeal to trace him and reported to a police station in Birmingham on 3 May.

He appeared before Worcester Crown Court the following day where he pleaded guilty to the offences and was remanded into custody.

Two other men, Kieran Jones and Reece Timby – also from Birmingham and aged 19 and 18 respectively – were recently sentenced to a total of seven years in a young offender’s institution after admitting their part in the attempted robberies.

Helsby is next due to appear before the same court for sentencing on 19 May.

For info, the wanted appeal for Helsby was also issued in the Somerset area as he was thought to have travelled to Weston-super-Mare.
