Two Asian women, who police were seeking as witnesses after a man was murdered at a tram stop in Birmingham, have now been identified.

Anthony Banting, 57, was stabbed multiple times shortly after getting off a tram at Soho Benson Road on 31 March.

In a bid to help their investigation, officers issued CCTV images of two women believed to be the last people to see Mr Banting and appealed for them to come forward.

Following enquiries in the local area, the pair have now been identified and spoken to. Detectives would like to thank everyone who shared the appeal to trace them.

Alaeldien Ahmed, 26, of Eva Road, Winson Green, appeared in court earlier this month charged in connection with Mr Banting’s murder and has been remanded into custody.
