Man charged with assault - Accrington

A man has been charged in connection with an incident in which a man in his sixties was assaulted at  Accrington railway station.

Adeel Iqbal, aged 22, of Higher Antley Street, Accrington, appeared at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (4/4), charged with one count of ABH assault and one count of common assault.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Burnley Crown Court on 5 May.

The charge of ABH is in relation to an incident at Accrington railway station on 7 February this year when a 67-year- old man was assaulted.

The charge of common assault is in relation to an incident at the same station on 25 March this year, in which a 20-year- old man was assaulted.

Iqbal was arrested on 7 February and charged on Tuesday.
