CCTV appeal - Edinburgh train assault

Officers from British Transport Police are investigating an incident in which a child was assaulted on board a train from Edinburgh.

The alleged incident happened on the 8.53pm  service from Edinburgh Waverley to Bathgate on 30 December 2016.

Police enquiries have been ongoing and as part of the investigation, officers are now looking to trace the man shown in the CCTV image, as he may have information which could help with enquiries.

Investigating officer, PC Mark McGeachy, said: “Fortunately, the child was not injured during this incident, but it was incredibly distressing for his family members who were travelling with him at the time. We are working to establish exactly what happened, and I would like to reiterate that we do not yet have the full circumstances of the incident. I would like to speak to the man shown in the CCTV image as he may have information which could help with the investigation. If you recognise him or know who he is, please get in touch as soon as possible.”
