A British Transport Police officer has been charged with obstructing a police constable in the execution of his or her duty. 

Chief Insp Chris Maddox, who is based in the Force Control Room in London, was arrested in Reading yesterday (13 March) by officers from Thames Valley Police following an incident of disorderly behaviour that occurred whilst he was off duty. He has since been charged with an offence of obstructing a police constable in the execution of his or her duty.

Chief Insp Maddox has been bailed to appear at Reading Magistrates’ Court on 13 April.

An investigation by BTP’s Professional Standards Department is underway to determine whether any misconduct has taken place and Chief Insp Maddox has been placed on restricted duties whilst the investigation is ongoing.
